Ed Czaplicki left Chicago and a successful career as a manufacturing engineer in 1978. His goal in Key West was to renovate and create a ten-unit Inn, which he operated until 1984. During that period, Ed was also involved in Key West charities and was President of the Key West Business Guild.

Building upon past experience and his knowledge of Key West, Ed decided to enter the real estate field. After obtaining his real estate license in 1985 and broker’s license in 1986, Ed and his original partners opened the first office of Key West Realty. A year later, he struck out on his own to establish Olde Island Realty, Inc. Service is the premise upon which Olde Island Realty, Inc. was established and continues to be the prime ingredient in Ed’s formula for success…SERVICE…not only to his clients but to his community.

Ed has worn many hats in Key West…President, Vice President, Treasurer, Multiple Listing Service Chair of the Key West Association of Realtors; President and Treasurer of The Florida Innkeepers Association; and Vice President and Treasurer of AIDS Help, Inc. receiving honors from the Key West Association of Realtors…Realtor of the Year in 1999 and the 2000 President’s Award and the 1988 Community Service Award.

In the summer of 2000, Ed considered retiring after being an Independent Broker and accomplishing many of his goals. All of this changed, when two friends introduced him to the EXIT Realty Franchise. He was energized by the new concept…Real Estate reinvented…good for both the Agents and the Broker. So, in January 2001, the Olde Island Realty, Inc. sign came down and was replaced with Exit Realty Old Island Key West.

The name may have changed, but the premise remains the same: SERVICE – the primary ingredient!.
